Installation problems

Hi everyone !

Yesterday, I tried to install Xine on my computer to wath my DVDs. I found 
different RMPs on the Mandrake 8.2 CDs, and installed them. When I tried to 
launch the DVD playing, an error message appeared : "no plug-in for the 
****.vob" (not sure about the exact translation !). As it didn't work, I 
uninstalled it with the KDE RPM manager, checking dependancies. After an 
apparently successful operation, I tried to re-installe Xine according to new 
instructions I found ont the Net. The problem is that KDE tells me the 
packages are already installed. What can I do ?
