Are you using Red Hat 7.3 at home?
Do you have anti-aliasing turned on?
Control Center > Look and Feel > Fonts > Use Anti-Aliasing for Fonts
Also, on the same page, select fonts that do look good on your system.
Frankly, the fonts look great on my system.
