USB mouse - too fast!

This feels like it should be a simple question, but I don't seem to
find an answer...

I've just switched from a PS/2 Intellimous to a USB Intellimouse. No
change to the XF86 configuration; only gpm updated to see the mouse in
/input/mouse0.

All is working, except the USB mouse makes the pointer go far, far,
far too fast.

I already have KDE configured for 1x acceleration. Where else should I
look to slow the mouse down farther? It zips across a 1600x1200
display in about 3cm of movement, and my aim isn't /that/ good. :)
