AFAIK OE 5 can't handle PGP/MIME. Norberto says the same: "ASCII armored
signed messages are OK for non-standard compliant e-mail clients, i.e.,
Outlook Express, but is a pain with Sylpheed :-/"
So I don't know why you want PGP/MIME. Your friends should either
install the GnuPG plugin for OE (http://www.winpt.org/gpgoe.html) or
they should use WinPT (http://www.winpt.org).
OTOH, OE 5 might support S/MIME. The Aegypten project also adds S/MIME
support to KMail. But please note that I don't think that S/MIME is
useful for private communication because of the hierarchical tree of
trust as opposed to OpenPGP with the web of trust.
