Removing Desktop Menu

Just installed Red Hat 7.3 with KDE 3.0.0-10.  Enabled
the Desktop Menu feature and I am now unable to disable
this feature.  Even though I uncheck Enable Desktop Menu
the menu is still there.  Any help with this would be
greatly appreciated.
