Xterminal freezing on KDE - fixed

Just to close out this thread:

The problem was resolved by manually upgrading to XFree86 4.2.0 and 
utilizing the "s3virge" driver.  I'm guessing the "svga" driver just wasn't 
happy supporting the way the Number Nine card implemented the S3 Virge/GX2 
chip, but have no way to elaborate upon this.
