Try this (no quarantees).  Use Ctrl-Alt-F1 to get to a terminal window 
(while you are on a desktop).  Type "root" and your root password.  
Type "ps -e" and look for soffice.bin or something similar.  Type kill 
<PID Number of process>.  You may have to do this several times.  If 
you start with the highest numbered instance, though, that might do.  
Type "ps -e" after each removal to verify that it is shut down.

Once you close it out, type "exit" and Ctrl-Alt-F5 to get back to the 
desktop.  Make sure everything is as you want it and logout making sure 
"restore session" IS ticked.  Log back in and see if it worked.  If it 
did, you just fixed a strange problem (now you can unclick it next time 
you log out).  If it doesn't, start looking over the following files:
.profile
.profile-private (you may not have one)
startkde
rc.gui

If everything looks okay in these (nowhere showing anything OOo 
related), then I'm at a complete loss.
