Fwd: installing kde3.0.3

First of all, we had someone telling us on this list how their upgrade to 3.0 
did not go smoothly. So I don't think, uninstalling KDE2.0 and reinstalling 
3.0  is such a great idea. Your best bet is to keep 2.0 where it is, download 
sources, and build KDE3.0 as per instructions (KDE site has those). It's not 
as hard as it sounds. Building takes lots of time (few days may be) but it's 
fairly painless. After compile, install all libs in one directory. And then 
include that directory first thing in your path or run all kde apps from 
there. That way, you can 'test the waters' first and if everything works, you 
can keep the directory in place and uninstall KDE 2.0.

BTW, your error means that library is needed by some other library so you 
can't just uninstall it without first uninstalling the dependent.
you can force an uninstall :
rpm -Uvh --nodeps  'your_package_here'
