Problem upgrading to KDE 3.0 from KDE 2.1

The desired libs are part of openssl-0.9.6b-x (SSL  2/3) 
There could be reasons for not offering them to RH <= 7.1 - other needs for 
SSL ?
I don't know if I'm right, but give it a try to install them beneath the 
existing libs (no upgrade). The following files/links have to be added to 
lib dir:
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root root  918752 Sep  8  2001 libcrypto.so.0.9.6b
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  19 Sep  9  2001 libcrypto.so.2 -> libcrypto.so.0.9.6b
-rwxr-xr-x   1 root root  207036 Sep  8  2001 libssl.so.0.9.6b
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root  16 Sep  9  2001 libssl.so.2 -> libssl.so.0.9.6b
