I just checked the various kde ftp sites and noticed that a bunch of newer
kde3 rpms for suse have been uploaded to the kde3/SuSE tree.

The reinstall of arts didn't went too well (probably because I updated 2 of
them at once, I had to rpm -e arts-1.0.0-6 arts-1.0.0-17 arts-1.0.0-19
and then do rpm -Uvh arts-1.0.0-19.i386.rpm) in that artsd fell over
without warning or trace.
havign done the rpm -e .... rpm -Uvh it seems to work just fine
(don't forget to do chmod 6711 /opt/kde3/bin/artswrapper as root).
The kde3 start script still misses the export lines
export QTDIR=/usr/lib/qt3/
export KDEDIRS=/etc/X11/kde3:/opt/kde3
export KDEMAINDIR=/opt/kde3/
just after the first block of comment,w ehre it now sais unset KDEDIRS or
somesuch.
klippie now finally works again as in kde2 (selecting an URL now immediatly
gives you the option to run in konqie)
keramic is still not in there
A few other minor things,
all in all kde3.0.0 is (in my experience) more stable than kde2.0.0 was.
And is as stable as kde2.2.2 (at least in the part I use of it).
If you are using suse 7.3 here's how to get kde3 to work.
1) downlad the rpms from some kde mirror
2) rpm -Uvh *rpm
(Check the dependecies, if it looks fine do rpm -Uvh --force --nodeps
*rpm)
3) optionally
edit /usr/bin/X11/wmlist
to include kde3
(not sure if this is still necesary)
