I don't think it would be too slow if we have a language dictionairy file only 
for every directory or so, so it wouldn't be searching through huge arrays.

Hrm, I don't have a clue about perl, so I wouldn't be able to implement this 
myself. I'll google a bit though.

AFAIK most sites have a dynamic i18n() style function.
