That it seems to make sense to me.
I am not familiar with gettext, would it be possible to hide it behind
this i18n function, so we can choose to drop our own algorithm if it
prooves to slow, or only use our own algorithm if the mirror doesn't have
gettext?
And another thing: Does gettext translate automatically according to the
user agent string, or can it be set per page?
