Hi,
we could agree that each toplevel link in the left menu should have a own 
subdir, or be a part of a subdir or a external page.
That would make contact.php -> contact/, have no problem with that.

The ideas of Andreas for sane transition are nice and worth a try ;)

btw. Neil:
