Mirror friendly suggestion for Newsfeed caching

What do you think of the idea of having the main http://kde.org the only site
that caches the newsfeeds and then part of the update process for mirrors
could be to wget (or whatever) the two .tmp files?
So the code to create the .tmp cache files would only be run if the request
came from a kde.org domain, leaving the mirrors without any requirement for
directories to be writable by the webserver. I just hate the idea of losing
the caching or losing the redundancy features or even having to retrieve the
news every time (this one would be quite unacceptable).
