Hi,
here a bit more concret proposal for the overall structure of the kde.org left
side menu + the common right side "Areas" selector:

Left side Menu:

Information:
  - What is KDE
  - Documentation
  - FAQ
  - Screenshots
  - Awards
  - People behind it (ah, might not be the correct naming ;)

Dowload: (on the pages the user can choose which versions)
  - Binaries
  - Sources

Contact:
  - Contact
  - Mailing Lists

Community:
  - How to join
  - Events
  - Related Pages

Right side Area Selector:

Office
Multimedia
Gaming
Themes
News
Development
Education
Usability Project
KDE & Women
KDE League
.....

That all is incomplete, but it shows where I want to go:
Not that much details on the main page, move the whole development stuff to
the development area and concentrate on what a user wants to get first. All
specific stuff about one area should be placed in the *.kde.org subdomains,
which is what the most companies does in the net, too. (and which is normally
highly efficient if the areas are a bit well chosen, but even atm the
different *.kde.org sites are more or less good sorted)
