Since the meeting was a bust (nobody showed but Christoph and myself), we 
have to go back to deciding things here.

I know that Rainer still wanted to darken the colors, but aside from that 
let's compare the two primary designs we have now.  Attached is a 
screenshot illustrating the severe disadvantage of two columns.

Now, in the case of the www/index.php, it might be better to have two or 
three columns of links, since that page's primary content *is* the links.  
But for pages with useful text, one column is essential.
