I believe you. I had the same problem with KDEnews on UNIXcode.org, 
actually.  I tried very hard to use the UNIXcode.org code in the Epoch 
templates, but it didn't work out.

However, this situation is different.  The new KDE look hasn't been written 
yet!  Perhaps you can help design the code and support files so that as 
much as possible can be shared to your site?

Making the code that flexible should be beneficial to future sites as well.  
This is supposed to be the redesign that lasts many years, after all.
