I unmerged both packages, and qca
compiled cleanly after pulling in openssl.

Qt and QCA require openssl.

The
openssl-src appears to have been pulled in by openssh-src, but I can't find
what pulled that in, other than continuing with emerge kdebase-apps pulls it
back in again, so it's something further up the stack.
