As we obviously still need a marker for the selected item in a part of the 
widget hierarchy that does not have focus we need an extra rendering 
state.  I have not seen this in any Qt theme.

It would be a good idea to start with saying that for widgets that take 
keyboard focus having focus should render the selected element in a 
different color then when the widget does not have focus.
Sounds like something we should add in the HIG.

what you meant :)
