The Java guidelines had to deal with the problem many features we see in 
KDE, and Windows today are not available there.
The default toolbars stuff of Java Swing really sucks, I mean; you can't 
have more then one toolbar per window!
Note that there are 3th party packages that allow more features (see my 
reportWriter, for example), but naturally Suns HIG can't depend on them.
