that we should listen to what the people from OSDL, AMD, Mozilla, etc are 
saying about options and proper user focus; that we should continue to try

i think we're on a good, if sometimes slow, track for real world usability.

in the end i think there is very little here that effects us. in fact, for 
those who currently/previously eyed "usability" with suspicion, this thread 
probably supports their suspicions that the GNOME approach is not the only 
approach nor the one that is actually desired. and, unfortunately, it's been 
the "GNOME approach" that has largely defined what "usability" as a word 
meant in the open source community due to their marketing efforts ....
