hi all..

i'm eating some apples and croisants right now between loads of boxes to the
new house, and thought i'd take this moment to write an email to this list to
keep things moving ...

when the idea of this list was first brought to my attention there seemed to
really be three major goals of it ... and i think perhaps we should start
working on those goals right from the beginning to keep focus and to keep
from simply moving kde-usability to kde-usability-devel. here are the goals
as i remember them:

 1. Set up a portal website for usability that is more inclusive than
exclusive and contains a number of usability resources covering as much of
KDE development and GUI design as possible.

 2. Rework the KDE UI Guidelines. Update them, expand upon them, host them at
the new usability web site.

 3. Create a "safe" place for KDE developers to ask questions and get
qualified answers regarding UI issues. kde-usability is a bit too "wild" and
"free-for-all"; developers want something a bit more erudite and streamlined.
kde-usability-devel should be able to give them that.

I'd appreciate comments from Thomas, Jan, Eba and Jutta in particular since
they were the ones who formulated much of what you see above, though I've
probably paraphrased heavily =)

we may want to discuss each of the above points in separate threads and decide
how to approach and implement them...

and now.. back to packing for me...
