The main difference between Telepathy the other instant messaging
applications is that while the other are monolithic apps that do
everything, telepathy is a modular framework, each component does just
one (or a few) task(s).
That's why we have several components...

Try to follow the instructions here, if you still have any problem, just
ask here or on the IRC channel (what's your nickname by the way?),
possibly with some more specific question ;)
