    Since you stated in the other patch that the avatar is related to the IMAccount, for a "Person" instead of the avatar, perhaps it would be better to have a "favourite photo" or something similar (that has a meaning also for pim applications)
    Or perhaps the user could be allowed to set a photo for a person that is not an avatar...
    
    But probably this should be clarified on the ontology side...
