Well, I have been trying that exact patch for a few weeks now. It works fine
with respect to the popups but it has a few problems that you might know how to
solve.
1. Photos of the contacts are not shown anymore.
2. Because, as you say, system tray icons are forced to be square, whenever I
have more than one chat open, the chat icons become thinner and thinner.
