Could you check that I'm understanding you correctly.

You're reporting 2 bugs:

1) GTalk does not use the System Proxy set in System Settings -> Network
Settings -> Proxy.

If you set a proxy in the advanced settings of the GTalk account configuration
it works

2) If you set a bad proxy in the advanced settings of the GTalk account you do
not get any feedback/notification that it's broken?

Is this correct?
