I guess that might be it, Kile works 100% on a Gnome Desktop. Have you
tried in under the JDS, seeing that the latter is 'based' on Gnome (if
I have my facts correct).
I suggest you to use TexMaker (http://www.xm1math.net/texmaker/), best

OK, so I can use TexLive, great.
Yes, I've used TexMaker before, however, I prefer Kile (functions such as
forward search with KDVI is fantastic). Thanks anyway, if I don't succeed
with Kile I'll try TexMaker again.
