For those interested, here are the Forte compiler flags i have used 
for optimization:

/opt/Forte-7.0/SUNWspro/bin/CC -features=%all,extensions 
-instances=extern -library=Crun,Cstd -template=wholeclass,extdef 
-verbose=template -xO3 -xtarget=ultra2 -xarch=v8plus -dalign 
-xprefetch=yes -xlibmopt -mt -D_REENTRANT
