well,

   The QT 3.0  from the SUN freeware CDROM  installs  in
/opt/sfw/lib.  If you have  /opt/sfw/lib in your
LD_LIBRARY_PATH  or LDFLAGS  environment  before the
path to the QT version ( usually /usr/qt/lib ) you want to use,
  that could be your problem. ( happend to me once :-) )

You do have the QTDIR environment set and exported ?

You do have the KDEDIR environment Set and exported ?

What is the contents of the relevant part of the config.log
file ?

Is configure failing because it cant find  some
nessesary library or include file  ?

What is the contents of your LD_LIBRARY_PATH Variable  ?
What is the contents of your LDFLAGS variable  ?
What is the contents of your CPPFLAGS varaiable ?

What is the full commandline you start the configure
session with ?
