Hello GSoC students!

Most of you have completed your evaluations by now. If you are the one
student who has not, please hurry and do that before the deadline, or
you will fail yourself.

We admins and mentors can't see your evals, but we can listen. If you
are having problems, please come to your mentor, your team, or us
admins (kde-soc-management at kde.org), or to your fellow students here
on the list.

One of you has an empty status page, which is unacceptable. Please
complete that ASAP, before the deadline. This is your communication
about your project not just to the KDE community, but to the wider
world, and eventually to Google.

Some of you are not yet blogging, or do not have your blogs feeding to
the Planet. Fix that now, please. Regular communication is part of the
skill-set of a good developer. If you are not yet good at it, now is
the time to begin.

A few of you are ahead of your timeline, most of you seem to be
on-track, and a few of you are behind. Please re-assess your timeline
and adjust as necessary with your mentor. Look ahead on your calendar
and see if there are any holidays, family events, etc. that might
throw you off-track, and put in some extra work ahead of time to keep
your project progress smooth.

Remember to write tests and documentation as you go, whether that is
daily or weekly, so that you can *review* these at the end of the
coding period, rather than trying to do it at the end. Now is the time
to create the good habits that will stay with you the rest of your
life.

Congratulations on completing the first portion of GSoC!

Valorie
