Meeting you mentors

Hi Chris, hello fellow SoC-cers,

How many of you have met their mentors face-to-face?

As my mentoring organization is KDE and I have come to aKademy
<http://conference2005.kde.org> in Malaga (where I'm writing these words
from :) ) I've had the opportunity to meet my mentors (and other KDE
developers) in person, discuss with them my project and also other ideas
related to Kontact (PIM suite I've been extending). We have worked together
in merging my branch into the main code tree and preparing to port KDEPIM to
Qt 4.0. In fact, as I have a SVN account now, I'm planning to help in
development of KDEPIM and KDE for this wonderful DE to rule the world ;)

You can see a photo of me with two of my mentors (unfortunately the third one
was sick when we took the photo and couldn't show up) at

From the left: Till Adam, me, Reinhold Kainhofer.

As a sidenote, about my humble project (because I feel it's not nearly as
impressive as some you folks have accomplished): I have accomplished all
clearly defined goals of my project; I'm not satisfied that I haven't
extended on it as I originally wanted, but it turns out that designing
efficient and comfortable GUIs for complex tasks isn't exactly piece of cake.
Still, extensive discussions with usability experts here in Malaga gave me
some ideas I want to pursue further, so expect even better GUI for todos in
Korganizer soon (hopefully); obviously, not as a part of SoC (well, at least
the 2005-NH edition).

You can find more details at
http://wiki.kde.org/tiki-index.php?page=SOC_Korganizer_GTD
Unfortunately we couldn't get those features into 3.5 because of the feature
freeze, so expect them only in next release (4.0 or maybe 3.6 (if there will
be 3.6)).
