Transmitting a QPixmap

Hello,
I have a command line app which is ahelper to my libgs backend. It generates a 
QPixmap pointer will allocated QPixmap data (using new QPixmap blah). How do 
I send such a QPixmap to be most effective? I was thinking about sending it 
via share memory but how do I calcualte the size of it then? Also QPixmap 
stores the data somewhere at X11 level right? Maybe I could use this somehow?
