Browsing the Git wiki, I came across a tool written by the Android
guys called 'repo' [1] which seems to be designed to handle putting
multiple Git repos together into meta-repos. There's more info at [2]
and [3]. As far as I can tell, it's a Python script which handles
cloning etc. by first cloning a manifest file which describes the repo
layout.

I haven't looked into it any more but I though it was worth mentioning
in case anyone else had any experience or thoughts. I vaguely remember
seeing it mentioned here before and if it has I wonder if any of the
recent discussions change anything.
