of course, this is all theoretical right now because git support is only in 
the one branch, but I didn't want that to be forgotten and cause trouble later 
on.

also, if findfiles is changed, we can do the modules fully one by one, reducing 
the chances of not being able to commit back the desktop files (because there's 
less time in which people might make a conflicting commit).
