That is, when a commit appears in more than one module, it has to generate a 
commit in the supermodule as well? Is that what you mean?

Right. If branches/KDE/3.5/kdelibs and kdebase are modified in the same 
commit, then KDE.git gets a commit in branch KDE/3.5
