you can still save things to directories on disk and display folder contents 
on the desktop ... and there will be a "legacy" mode that simply displays the 
contents of a folder on the desktop. ugh.

for the firefox example, there's no reason one couldn't show a replica of the 
ff download dialog right on the desktop, completely masking the nasty 
filesystem details.

yeah, as if there hasn't been enough hype about plasma already. i'm -trying- 
to keep at least some of the ideas calm and quiet until we start releasing 
previews of the software. =)
