From your backtrace, it seems to be a Konqueror problem. But your report is 
very confusing, so I still haven't even completely understood what role would 
Ark play in such a crash (well, at least in the default settings 
left-clicking a *.tar.bz2 archive in Konqueror will use the tar kioslave, not 
Ark).

BTW, if you suspected the problem was in Ark, it would be a good thing to at 
least mention that in the bug report and CC the maintainer. Most people don't 
have enough time to read kde-bugs-dist, and if you report bugs on their apps 
and don't CC them, they might never know about your report, even though it 
might be valid.
