Quite right and this worked great Ann, thanks a lot.

The problem with simply doing a cvs co kde-i18n and then using the inst-apps 
method is that you check out every other language you don't need, which given 
the size of kde-i18n, can take a while. What I did was:

- - cvs co -l kde-i18n
- - cd kde-i18n
- - cvs co admin
- - cvs co your_language

This gives you the first level of kde-i18n, and then you need the admin and 
you language directories within kde-i18n to build it.

- - echo your_language > inst-apps

This saves you having to edit subdirs, but editing subdirs is fine if you will 
use no other languages.

Then you can do a make etc. install, or simply add kde-i18n into your KDE 
build script - but don't update it automatically. There is a new version of 
kde-build and kde-builrc that I haven't tried yet that may do this 
automatically.
