Like Alexander said, as long as kdepim is the ONLY module you install 
system-wide from HEAD, you should be fine.

Except of course, for that fact that sometimes kdepim simply won't build, 
which usually occurs right after a very buggy version of kdepim built, 
leaving you unable to check your e-mail for a few days without using a 
different program.

If you don't want to create a different user just for debugging, it's possible 
to run a different version as the same user by playing with environment 
variables, but it's really easier just to create a different user.
