i seen many system, which support user defined printers, but not sure is
it standart or not. anyway solaris and linux (which i have under
terminals servers, support both). so i make some type of workaround, by
rewriting as need kdeprintrc file, but default printer configured in
gui, and i am not found any way to change it from command line. so, i
use additional wrapper for kprinter, which execute kprinter with -P
argument, this looks like a usable replacement for seting default
printer. but this construction looks overloaded . and i am still
confused, that devs implement its own architecture for
masking/defaulting printing.. anyway thanks for information.
