I found this bug description, and though, I can help.

About me. I code for time to time for absolutely differently projects in OSS: 
cdrecord, Kscd(CDTEXT, SCSI), atyfb driver in Linux 2.6.x, kget. It's mostly 
that I try fix the problems which bored me on my home PC. I run SuSE since 
version 5.3, today it's 10.0 OSS.

The story with kdeprint is in this relation smells different. I doesn't have 
any problem at home with printing. I just would like to help.

My plans: If we done the compatibility to CUPS 1.1 and 1.2, I would like to 
work on the kaddprinter wizard. I think it is possible to improve situation 
without to much effort and code blow.

Yes, but I tested only printing over localhost:631 and /var/run/cups/supc.sock 
to network printer. "cupsdoprint" have work very well. 
"ipp:///usr/var/run/cups/cups.sock/printers" is definitely wrong. Isn't this 
action useless for local CUPS server? And that totally contention looks for 
me wrong, I think cupsDoRequest(...) doesn't need a protocol header and 
complete string. Should'nt it be

cupsDoRequest(
    http_t * http, http->hostname can be "localhost:631" or "/var/.." or 
something like "mond.de:443"
    ipp_t * request, 
    const char * resource); -> should be only "/printers"
