kprinter doesn't work together with CUPS

There's really something weird in your system... :-(
It really looks like part of the system uses the CUPS plugin, and another
part is not. Try to change the print plugin (combo box at the bottom of
the print dialog or the print manager), and switch back to CUPS to see if
it makes any difference.
