Hi John.

I have SuSE 9.1 running, and I use kdeprintfax and hylafax on a dialy basis.  
I'll try to help you  get through this - 

Step 1. have you set up hylafax properly? 

step 2. is it running?  (as root execute the command "rchylafax status" (no 
quotes!) - what does it say?)

step 3. What does the log file say when you get your error message?
("fax" menu, "view log")
