cups doesn't start

hi all,
ive cups on linux debian it was all really ok until yesterday :( if i
try to launch cupsd the cpu goes to 100% for a while and then nothing
there is no cupsd process..., 
i've :
ii  cupsys         1.1.18-2       Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - se
ii  cupsys-bsd     1.1.18-2       Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - BSD 
ii  cupsys-client  1.1.18-2       Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - c
ii  cupsys-driver- 4.2.5-2        Gimp-Print printer drivers for CUPS
ii  libcupsys2     1.1.18-2       Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - libs

i was searching for /var/cache/ to see if there is some fake process but
nothing :( i can't find /var/cache/cups ...

any idea
