The printing dialog is a mess anyway. Some settings you can set in the menu
right away (such as color or black and white printing in kolourpaint and such)
but printing mode (draft, normal, foto) is only available under printer
settings. And often you cannot even set oritentation to landscape as it is just
greyed out. 
KDE has such a nice file-open-dialog (which I don‘t think comes from qt
directly?) so why not provide a nice printing dialog as well. You have one
since Windows 95 and we‘re in 2010 here. (And when configuring my printer with
KDE, it always spits out an additional testpage (or an empty one if I am
quickly enough at the printer to press cancel) after each printing job)
