kmail serious problems

This is not related to POP3 only. I have also issues with corrupted (empty!)
emails showing up while I use IMAP to a locally running davmail (which fetches from 
company M$ server).

I have debugged this issue some years ago.
Maybe someone can invest time to look into my findings:

I did fix something back then

but it seems this was not enough.

My feeling is that the akonadi architecture is simply too complicated,
and this leads to timing problems between different processes
which you barely can debug.
