To me, journalling is just calendaring of the past.
A calendar is a journal of the future.
A todo list is a calendar with priorities instead of dates.
A journal is a havedone list.
A 'sent mail' folder is the 'mail' category of a journal.

Kontact treats all these things differently, but they are basically the same: 
text with attributes like links to other texts, dates, priorities, attendees, 
receivers, locations.
