Indeed, perfect. As long as the dependency on kdepim components is also kept to 
a mininum we should be fine in this department then.

Email is just a too important tool for me, and I'm not willing to give up or 
risk my kdepim4 set-up before I'm convinced that I found a viable alternative 
that won't make me regret using it.

I kind of understand why the kdepim authors kept the same service names, 
settings and database files etc. but it does make it very cumbersome to try the 
5.x version while still being able to go back to using v4.1x .

OK. How far does master lag behind develop, usually, or how unstable does the 
develop branch tend to get?
