Wierd, that worked for me.

This is a longshot, but you could try to open the .ics attachments in 
KOrganizer
and add it to your calendar, then you should be able to edit your 
presence response
and have KOrganizer send the update to organizer. It's very 
inconvenient, but I
can't think of anything better atm.
