Hi,

in case you are not following GnuPG closely you might have missed Bernhard's 
announcement below. While the bulk of the work will probably be in GnuPG-land, 
this does include improvements and maintenance on Kleo as well \o/

I'm happy to see some renewed investment in this area, crypto is not only one 
of our most important features, it's also getting more and more important 
every day.

this contract has been won by Intevation/g10code!

The kickoff meeting with the BSI was on Wednesday.
We are allowed to work in public now and will publish
more details about the planned work 
during the next days and weeks to come.

A large part of this contract is about researching how things could be done,
especially for the web browser, android and about how to strengthen 
the security of the existing implementation.
In the other parts it is planned to do some general maintance of Kleopatra and 
Gpg4win in addition to the integration of GnuPG 2.1 (modern).
We are also optimistic to come up 
with a working prototype about how PGP/MIME can be implemented in GpgOL.

We aim to add details about planning and progress to the wiki.gnupg.org.
